How come there are only a few states that offer online casino gaming or iGaming? Why is it not as widespread as online sports betting?

There are a lot of factors, but I think one main consideration would be current retail gambling operators. Allowing online gaming will affect their bottom lines in a larger scope than wagering does, so there could be resistance on their end. Especially when issues like employment are attached to retail operations.

I hear there are a lot of states that want to introduce iGaming, so we will see how it goes in this coming year. Based on sports betting history, filing a bill on iGaming has no guarantee that it will pass.
