On Friday, a federal judge in Louisville, Kentucky, refused Bob Baffert's application for a preliminary injunction against Churchill Downs Inc. in his ongoing legal battle to win entry to the Kentucky Derby in 2023.

A majority of the trainer's action against CDI was dismissed by Judge Rebecca Grady Jennings, who otherwise agreed with Baffert on only one aspect of his lengthy legal battle to clean his name and reinstate the late Medina Spirit as the victor of the 2021 Derby despite a failed, post-race drug test.
