After being found guilty of anticompetitive conduct in its dispute against Epic Games, the producer of Fortnite, Google has asked an appeal court in California to reverse the decision.
Epic Games began a protracted legal struggle with Google and Apple in 2020, alleging that the tech companies had blocked competitor app shops from their respective Android and iOS ecosystems. After a San Francisco jury ruled in favor of the gaming company in December 2023, U.S. District Judge James Donato mandated that Google open up its Android app store and payment mechanism to other parties two months ago.

Good for the market. They do tend to monopolize certain aspects of gaming and other online activity, so this ruling is a fair one. Wondering if compensation was awarded to competitors? Or is that hard to quantify in court?
