As ByteDance, the Chinese social media company behind TikTok, pulls out of the gaming sector, it said on Tuesday that it is in discussions with several potential purchasers over its gaming assets. Tencent, the biggest video game company in the world, is among those potential bidders.
Despite continuing discussions, a representative from ByteDance informed Reuters that no agreement had been finalized.
On Monday, local media site LatePost claimed that ByteDance's Nuverse gaming subsidiary, which publishes popular video games including "Crystal of Atland" and "Earth: Revival," is in talks with Tencent about a potential merger involving these titles.
