According to many sources within the company, Ubisoft San Francisco has until the conclusion of XDefiant Season 3 to boost the game's dismal player counts.

XDefiant's debut in May 2024 was the talk of the town. In its first week, the game had more than 8 million players, and in its first 2.5 hours, it had more than 1 million unique players—a record for Ubisoft. The title's future has executives ecstatic, and the firm even included XDefiant income in its most recent press statement, which said that it contributed to its financial success in Q1 2025. However, Ubisoft HQ threatens to cut off XDefiant's crucial post-launch support unless player counts grow by Season 3, just six weeks before the company's Q1 financial report.
