Since the elections, Musk has become the second most prominent figure in US politics. Most political experts and the media wonder how and why this happened. His progressive enemies have an easy explanation: Musk is just doing business.

The federal government has awarded contracts to Musk's businesses. SpaceX has surpassed Boeing as a key contractor and now controls Nasa's rocket launch schedule. He is also the Department of Defense's go-to guy for satellites.

Do you think the US government should allow Musk to continue meddling with politics?

There's a clear line between politics and being able to run a business. So while he may have the President's ear, he will have to give up his status (or at least part of it), if he wants to get appointed anywhere.

Planning on retiring early, thanks to my Bookie PPH Blog

Just over two weeks after Trump became the president, Elon Musk established a new federal government power structure to reduce expenditures and fire workers. Congress has not blessed any of this, which might lead to a constitutional dispute over the president's power.

As a special government employee, Musk is exempt from some strict regulations that apply to regular employees, including financial declarations and ethics. Musk is in charge of a group of employees at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, which Trump has granted him office space in the White House complex. The team has been scattered throughout several government departments to collect data and provide directives. On Monday, a few were observed at the Department of Education, which Trump promised to dismantle during the campaign.

Republicans are defending Musk as little more than Trump's campaign pledge to cut and burn. On the other hand, Democrats say Musk is accumulating unchecked and unlawful authority inside the government.

Which side are you on?
