Here's a list of strange rituals commonly observed in the theater world:

  • "Break a leg" - Wishing actors good luck
  • No whistling backstage - Believed to bring bad luck
  • "The Scottish Play" - Avoiding saying "Macbeth" inside theaters
  • Ghost light - Leaving a single light on when the theater is empty
  • No peacock feathers on stage - Considered unlucky
  • Avoiding real money or jewelry on stage
  • "Thespis' Ghost" - Inviting the spirit of the first actor to watch dress rehearsals
  • No blue on stage - Unless balanced with silver
  • Forbidden last lines - Not saying the play's last line during rehearsals
  • "The Second Act Curse" - Avoiding compliments after the first act

Do you know any other strange rituals followed by actors and staff working in theaters?

I use Pay Per Head King to start my bookie business.
