Here's a list of strange rituals commonly observed in the theater world:
- "Break a leg" - Wishing actors good luck
- No whistling backstage - Believed to bring bad luck
- "The Scottish Play" - Avoiding saying "Macbeth" inside theaters
- Ghost light - Leaving a single light on when the theater is empty
- No peacock feathers on stage - Considered unlucky
- Avoiding real money or jewelry on stage
- "Thespis' Ghost" - Inviting the spirit of the first actor to watch dress rehearsals
- No blue on stage - Unless balanced with silver
- Forbidden last lines - Not saying the play's last line during rehearsals
- "The Second Act Curse" - Avoiding compliments after the first act
Do you know any other strange rituals followed by actors and staff working in theaters?
