Amazon has extended its continuing round of layoffs to employees closer to the company's game development efforts. It has been revealed that "just over" one hundred people have been let go from the company's gaming businesses, including Prime Gaming, Game Growth, and the San Diego studio for Amazon Games, according to an internal message sent by gaming VP Christoph Hartmann. The internet giant is also reallocating staff to initiatives that better align with its "strategic emphasis," the CEO adds.

Hartmann adds that both the Irvine office, which works on the online role-playing game New World, and the Montreal office, which is working on a secret project, will expand. Publishing at Amazon will also grow. Employees who are being let off are already being informed that they will receive severance compensation, health insurance, and time off to look for new employment.
